Capital Budgeting Framework: Build Financial Mastery Over Time

We're running an intensive program starting September 2025 that walks you through capital allocation, investment analysis, and financial decision-making. This isn't a quick weekend course. It's designed for people who want to understand how businesses evaluate long-term projects and make smarter financial choices.

The curriculum covers discounted cash flow methods, risk assessment, and scenario planning. Classes run evenings and weekends over eight months, with projects based on actual business cases from Australian companies.

How We Got Here

cosildanhulboexi started in 2019 after three finance professionals got tired of seeing small businesses make expensive budgeting mistakes. Here's how the program evolved.

1

Early 2019

First Workshop Series

Started with weekend workshops in Launceston for local business owners. Twenty-three people showed up to the first one, which we ran in a borrowed conference room. The feedback was surprisingly positive, so we kept going.

2

Late 2020

Curriculum Expansion

Added online modules after requests from people outside Tasmania. We also brought in case studies from manufacturing and retail sectors, which made the material way more practical than the theory-heavy approach we'd started with.

3

Mid 2022

Industry Partnership

Partnered with six Tasmanian businesses to provide real project data for student analysis. This changed everything because participants got to work with actual investment proposals instead of hypothetical scenarios.

Present 2025

Ongoing Development

We're refining the program based on what actually helps people make better financial decisions. The September 2025 cohort will include new content on sustainability investments and digital transformation budgeting.

Brenton Caldwell teaching capital budgeting concepts during workshop session

Meet Brenton Caldwell, Lead Instructor

Brenton worked in corporate finance for twelve years before he got frustrated with how poorly most people understood capital allocation. He's been teaching this material since 2019 and has a knack for breaking down complex concepts without oversimplifying them.

He doesn't promise you'll become a CFO overnight. What he does offer is a structured way to think about financial decisions that most people pick up over years of trial and error. His teaching style is pretty straightforward—more problem-solving workshops than lectures.

Brenton's also terrible at golf, which he mentions every time we do team-building events. His students seem to appreciate that he's honest about what the program can and can't do for your career.
